Like a personal tutor, Smart Start Hebrew gives you instant feedback on your progress, through an exclusive, patented Automatic Speech Recognition method. Automatic Speech Recognition has been integrated into many of the games and comic strips. It provides a unique, effective way to learn to speak Hebrew. Using a microphone, you'll speak in Hebrew as you play a game. Smart Start Hebrew will evaluate what you've said and will indicate if your response is correct and your pronunciation is acceptable.

Vocabulary and Conversations

As you progress through the games, exploring three skill levels, you'll be taught hundreds of vocabulary words and phrases. Go on to the cartoon conversations, where you'll talk with the characters about people, places, dining, shopping and more. And listen to yourself in comparison with a Hebrew speaker with the Record/Playback feature.

Game Modes
Smart Start Hebrew lets you learn in three different ways or modes: Listening, Reading and Speaking (Automatic Speed Recognition). As you play games using these three modes, you'll be developing the essential elements of language learning.

Listening
In this mode, you'll see visual images, listen to the corresponding words in Hebrew, and use the mouse to play games. An important first step in a natural learning approach to a new language, Listening games will teach you how Hebrew should sound, and help you to retain new words and phrases.

Reading
Smart Start Hebrew also provides games and activities to help you learn to read in Hebrew. The Letters & Sounds game teaches the connections between Hebrew letters and sounds using a unique exploratory approach that lets you discover the rules through their usage. The other Reading games and Reading mode comic strips help you to move beyond basic reading skills to develop reading fluency in Hebrew.

Speaking

Learning Tips
The games are arranged by language level. Within each subject category, Smart Start Hebrew offers three distinct levels of linguistic complexity, so you can select the subject category and level of learning that's right for you.

Level 1 Games
You'll learn to read, speak and understand nouns, verbs and simple phrases through many different game formats. Practice screens are available in most Level 1 games to teach and to reinforce the learning, and to help you to train your ear and to perfect your pronunciation.

Level 2 Games
You'll build on the vocabulary learned in Level 1. The linguistic complexity also increases in Level 2, since the language used in the games is in the form of complete phrases and sentences in Hebrew.

Level 3 Games
You'll integrate and extend Level 1 and Level 2 skills. You will learn to understand and speak the parts in realistic dialogues and conversations that include may important everyday expressions.
